“Vaya Guacamaya” Mural at Port Richmond Furniture, Staten Island, NY.

 

Vaya Guacamaya comes from the artist’s La Isla Bonita series – as does Mariposas Amarillas – of public art pieces in Staten Island that take musical themes or lyrics as inspiration. Vaya Guacamaya is song interpreted by Colombian singer Andres Cabas.

The mural was created in collaboration with artists Rigoberto Fabian, Homero Herrera, Arlette Cepeda, and Melissa Mejía. According to Montoya, work will continue on Vaya Guacamaya throughout the summer. It is located at Castleton Avenue and Port Richmond Avenue.

This piece was created with the support and hands of Rigoberto Fabian and his friends, Homero Herrera, Arlette Cepeda, Melissa Mejia, Mr. Bob and the Port Richmond Furniture Crew, Samantha Seigel, Jeff Rodriguez, El “Parce”, Sandra Morales, El Enano y El Centro del Inmigrante.
